AI and people
Nine criteria
| criterion | real operator | OMO | recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Availability | Works in shifts, rest and work schedule. | Can work 24 / 7 if there is a phone and the required integrations are available. | OMO — outside working hours and at peak load. |
| Parallel calls | One operator can have one full conversation at a time. | Concurrency increases within dedicated infrastructure and limits. | OMO — for repeatable high volume. |
| Consistency | Formulation and process vary with experience, fatigue and workload. | Uses one published conversation script and mandatory verification for all calls. | OMO — for standardized process. |
| Empathy and exception | Better understands complex emotional and completely new situations. | It works within a defined range and adjusts or disables the person on uncertainty. | Human — for high emotional or high risk cases. |
| System action | Often manually transfers data to calendar or CRM. | Performs the action within the verified process during the conversation. | OMO — Rules-based for fast execution. |
| Quality control | Often only a select portion of calls are checked. | All sessions can be evaluated with a single audio, transcript, milestones and results. | OMO — for complete operational visibility. |
| Implementation of change | The new process requires training, observation and team agreement. | The new version of the authenticated conversation process applies to subsequent calls. | OMO — for rapidly iterative rule change. |
| Cost model | Fixed team, shifts, training and management cost. | Total OMO credits based on usage and visible consumption. | Compare the total operating cost, not just the price of a single call. |
| Best role | Negotiation, exception, emotional support and responsible decision. | Routine receipt, collection, verification, processing and reporting. | The strongest model is hybrid: OMO handles routine work and people handle difficult cases. |
The right division of work
Total cost
Compare the complete operating cost of a human team and an AI system before making a decision.
Compensation, shifts, recruitment, training, management, workspace, peak-load capacity, and selective quality reviews.
Connected voice time, SIP, AI models, infrastructure, integration work, simulation, monitoring, and human escalation for complex cases.
Decision FAQs
It depends on the specific job. AI is better in repetitive, rules-based, high-volume processes where all calls are handled the same and full audit is required. A person is better at complex emotion, unusual exception, negotiation and responsible decision.
For most businesses, a hybrid model is the most reliable. OMO answers, collects and verifies data, completes routine actions, and preserves the full history. When a case is complex or high-risk, a person joins with the context already collected.
Compare total operating cost: staffing and shifts, peak-load coverage, training, supervision, missed calls, manual data entry, and quality control. OMO is usage-based, but telephony, infrastructure, integrations, and ongoing monitoring must also be included.
An emergency, medical, legal or financial decision, severe emotional conflict, and a process for which a safe rule has not yet been established must remain with the person. AI can help with reception and routing, but should not replace a responsible specialist.
